Material & Structures.
A variety of different materials is available to protect your goods and keep your brand looking sharp.
Card
350 gsm card stock is the standard for shelf ready packaging, seen in most retail environments. Unlike corrugated boards, it offers light protection with no extra folds for superior packaging.
This card can usually be offset printed, before either being laminated, UV varnished or left bare before being made into boxes. You can also get coloured cards that are then debossed or foiled rather than printed in a traditional CMYK sense.
Corrugated – Kraft
Corrugated board is available in many different material grades with varying paper weights and finishes. All of our materials are sourced from global leaders within the paper based packaging industry to ensure our material is cost effective and of the highest quality.
Kraft is the ubiquitous brown colour you find on all cardboard, though it does come in varying shades. If you print on flute the inks sink in providing a subtle effect where the brown shows through. You can also screen-print white and other colours on top of the kraft to provide a coloured contrast. This material lends itself to flexo and digital printing.
Corrugated – White
Like Kraft, white corrugated board comes in many different material grades with varying paper weights and finishes. This form of board has a thin paper layer of white laid over the top, often with different films or varnishes to allow for printing and other customisation techniques.
If you print on flute the inks sink, but depending on the finish can come matt, glossy or semi-gloss. This material lends itself to flexo and digital printing.
Paper Over Board
Another way of making boxes, especially those for luxury products such as jewellery and corporate gifts, would be to put specialist papers over hard board, which creates a strong and sleek box. This style is very popular amongst stationers such as Smythsons and brands like Chanel and Tiffany’s.
Many of the papers we use have their bookbinding equivalents. Therefore you could have a box made from the same material as your notebook. This style of box lends itself particular well to a foil or embossed/debossed logo or type.
